Deep Cleaning for Edwalton homes

The 1960s and 1970s houses were built with storage instead of furniture, so a deep clean here is measured in cupboard interiors rather than floor area. Sliding wardrobe tracks, the high cupboards over the stairwell and the cylinder cupboard all come out.

The 1960s and 1970s houses here were built with storage rather than furniture, and it changes what a deep clean is. Three bedrooms with a full wall of fitted wardrobes each, a linen cupboard, a run of high cupboards over the stairwell, and a cylinder cupboard on the half landing. Every one of those is an interior, and interiors are slow, because everything comes out, the shelf gets washed rather than wiped, and it all goes back. Floor area tells you very little about the time. The interwar houses along Melton Road swap storage for height, with picture rails and deep reveals sitting above the line a weekly visit works to, while the newest houses south of the wood have neither and are mostly a kitchen and two bathrooms.

Edwalton sits in NG12, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly large interwar detached houses along Melton Road, 1960s and 1970s estates of four and five bedroom detached properties, a small old village core, and new estates on the southern edge, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Edwalton deep cleaning jobs

Sliding wardrobe doors are the one thing in these houses that has genuinely never been cleaned. The bottom track fills with grey lint, hair and fine grit off the shoes stored underneath, then compacts into a felt strip that stops the door running properly. That comes out with a crevice tool and a stiff brush before anything damp goes near it, because wet lint smears along the track and sets harder than it started. The cylinder cupboard is the other one. A lagged cylinder sheds fibre steadily onto the shelves below it, and those shelves are usually where the spare bedding lives.

How an Edwalton deep cleaning job actually runs

Deep cleans here are nearly always booked against a date rather than a season. A house going on the market, a family event, a relative moving into the ground floor bedroom, or the week after the decorators leave. That matters because the property needs to be genuinely available for a full day: people out of the rooms being worked on, cars off the drive so the van can get close to the door, and hot water and power on throughout. Many of these houses have a loft conversion with an en suite in the roof, which means kit carried up two flights and a landing on the way that nobody wants blocked. We work from the top down for that reason, finishing on the ground floor nearest the door. The older houses on the village side have the tightest stair turns, so machines come up in parts rather than assembled. Where the house is being photographed for an estate agent, the sequence changes again and the rooms in the brochure go last, so nothing is marked while the rest is still being finished.

Who books it here

Three generations of housing sitting side by side, and they want different things. A 1930s detached house, a 1970s estate property with fitted storage on every wall, and a five year old house south of the wood are three separate jobs, quoted from what is actually in them rather than the bedroom count.

We run Edwalton on the same round as West Bridgford, Gamston and Ruddington.

What we check on every Edwalton job

The water here leaves scale, and the loft en suite is where you see what that means. A shower on the top floor usually runs off a pump, so it throws more water at a smaller screen than the family bathroom does, and the scale builds in bands that follow the spray pattern rather than evenly across the glass. Left long enough it etches, and at that point cleaning only takes off what sits on top. We treat it with an acidic descaler and dwell time rather than pressure, keeping it well away from any natural stone in the same room. The other place scale hides in a roof room is the extractor, which usually ducts a long way through the loft to a tile vent. Warm damp air over that distance leaves a soft grey deposit on the fan blades that no amount of wiping the visible grille will ever reach.

What the deep cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Everywhere else: Skirting boards by hand throughout
  • Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and washed including the seals
  • Everywhere else: High level dust: light fittings, door tops, picture rails, coving
  • Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Edwalton property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What deep cleaning costs in Edwalton

A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

Typical one-off in Edwalton. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical one-off

2 bedrooms£165 to £280
3 bedrooms£220 to £350

Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Single oven deep clean£45 to £80
Double oven£70 to £110
Range cooker£80 to £130

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. How much longer does it take if the fitted wardrobes are full?

A wall of wardrobes in three bedrooms adds a couple of hours if we are emptying and refilling them, and honestly that is not a good use of the booking. Pile the contents onto the bed the night before and we clean the interiors properly in a fraction of the time. A covered shelf cannot be cleaned, only worked around, so what you get otherwise is a wiped strip at the front and the same dust behind it.

Is the cylinder cupboard worth including?

Once a year, yes, because it is the source rather than the symptom. Fibre off the lagging and dust off the pipework settle on the shelves and then transfer onto whatever bedding is stored there. We lift the shelves where they come out, vacuum rather than dust so it is removed instead of moved around, and wipe down the pipework. After that a yearly look is enough unless the lagging itself is breaking up.

Should we book the deep clean before or after the decorators?

After, without exception. Decorating produces sanding dust that keeps settling for days, and a room cleaned first simply gets it back on every horizontal surface. The one thing worth doing beforehand is a proper vacuum of the carpets and the tops of the wardrobes, because dust disturbed by a roller lands worst where it was already thick. Give fresh paint a few days to harden as well, so skirting can be wiped rather than marked.

Do you need us out of the house for the day?

Not out entirely, but out of the room being worked on. A deep clean means cupboards emptied onto worktops, furniture pulled away from walls and wet floors underfoot, so a house with people trying to work in it takes noticeably longer. If you are staying, the practical arrangement is to keep a floor ahead of us or a floor behind. Dogs are the exception and want shutting somewhere settled, because doors are open, the front one included.

Do you cover the whole of Edwalton?

Yes, all of NG12 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does deep cleaning cost in Edwalton?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start deep cleaning in Edwalton?

Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Drives on almost everything, often block paved and long, which sounds easy and means the van sits well back from the door, and we group Edwalton with West Bridgford, Gamston and Ruddington on the rota.
